For the first time this season, RB Leipzig lose at the Red Bull Arena as they were defeated by the league leaders, Ingolstadt. It had been a struggle for the leaders the last few times out on the pitch, but they are back to winning ways and will look to continue this form for the next few weeks before the winter break and perhaps even widen their lead.

Ingolstadt got the first chance of the match with three minutes gone off of the clock with an effort from Lukas Hinterseer, but his effort went straight into the hands of Fabio Coltori. And it was the visitors who carried the momentum early as they struck the post in the ninth minute of play through Mathew Leckie. Not even sixty seconds later, Die Schazner got the loan goal of the match as Pascal Groß found the back of the net for his third goal in all competitions this campaign.

Things calmed down after that with few chances before half-time, but it was an extremely chippy game with more yellow cards than both managers would have liked. Marvin Matip had a headed attempt, but it missed the target completely, with 12 minutes to go until the break. Leipzig were really unimpressive going foward in the first half and never really looked like winning the three points this afternoon.

That trend would continue in the second half, but the Red Bulls would create a couple of half-chances, but nothing that ever really troubled the Ingolstadt goalkeeper. Nine minutes after the restart, Ante Rebic had a long-range effort, however, his shot was nowhere near the frame of the goal. On the hour mar, Ramazan Ozcan was tested by Marvin Compper but the Austrian goalkeeper did well to deny whaat looked like a goal from the home side.

Niklas Hoheneder had an opportunity from inside of the eighteen yard box to level the match, he just could not get his footing right and failed to get a clean shot away. There wasn't much goalmouth action for the remainder of the match as Ingolstadt would hold onto their lead that they got early on in the match.
