Union Berlin beat FSV Frankfurt in comfortable style. The win now seals consecutive wins for Union, who will now look to push further up the table. Frankfurt however will be looking to bounce back from a morale crushing defeat.

The team from the capital looked the more threatening in the early stages. FSV were struggling to get into any real pattern. Union's confidence was showing as Kreilach pulled a foul out of the FSV defence on the ninth minute. The resulting costless kick lead to a corner which was caught easily by Klandt. Frankfurt upped their game and with some nice link up play, making room for a cross which was comfortably cleared by the Union defence.

Frankfurt were now looking the more attacking team and pulled a foul out of Puncec, which the referee deemed a yellow card. Union responded well and hit the post with a shot from Polter, this upped the atmosphere from the home fans. The game continued end-to-end and Frankfurt pushed high up the pitch, meaning Berlin got deeper and deeper. As a result of all this pressure Frankfurt had a succession of costless-kicks and corners in the Union half, though nothing came of any of them to the relief of the home fans. Overall Union dominated the majority of the first half, FSV struggled to get in to fast tempo. Klandt in the Frankfurt goal had more action saves to make.

The second half started with high intensity and the breakthrough came on the 47th minute mark. Skrzybski hit a low right-footed shot past Klandt, who had a solid first half. Frankfurt were stunned and couldn't get in to any rhythm and Union continued to pile the pressure, while Frankfurt struggled to keep calm on the ball.

There were many high, late challenges on both sets of players and referee Bastian Dankert showed his yellow card four times before the 60th minute mark. Frankfurt could still not break down the resilient Berlin defence and responded by making a double change. Kauko and Kapllani on for Oumari and Engels, this would strengthen the attacking line of the Frankfurt team.

However on the 71st minute mark the game was killed off as Thiel added a second for Union, to the immense relief of the home fans. Union now looked comfortable going into the final minutes and looking likely to add a third. The roughness of the game continued and both Leistner and Kapplani got cautioned in the final minutes. Frankfurt got a consolation goal courtesy of sub Kapplani in the 90th minute, setting up an exciting finish. Overall Union deserved the win and the three points; Frankfurt, however, will be looking to respond in time for next weeks game.
