Bundesliga.com caught up with goalscorer Alexander Meier and co to get their view on the enthralling match between Eintracht Frankfurt and Werder Bremen that the home side won 5-2.

Eintracht Frankfurt comments

Alexander Meier who bagged a brace said: “We want to pick up as many points as possible and we need to keep looking over our shoulder at the other end of the table. We’ve now won three in a row but if we lose the next three then we’re back in the thick of it at the bottom, so we shouldn’t give this result too much importance. [Haris Seferovic] and I understand each other well and it’s improving all the time. I’m normal; he’s crazy.”

Frankfurt striker Haris Seferovic: “It’s always enjoyable to play in front of our fans in this stadium. Alex [Meier] has got so much experience; I’m a young striker who’s perhaps a little bit more daring. He’s got ten goals and I’ve got five, so I think we complement each other very well out on the pitch.”

Eintracht Frankfurt goalscorer Marc Stendera:Scoring at home is even better than scoring away. I was in a good position and just hit the ball without really thinking about it. It sliced off my laces a bit, but it was better that it did because it spun outwards.”

Werder Bremen comments

Veteran Bremen Right Back Clemens Fritz: “The goals we conceded were unfortunate but Frankfurt played well and were very physical. We didn’t defend well, didn’t go into the challenges in the right way and gave the ball away too cheaply going forward - we can’t deny that. We’d have been up to 12th with a win but as it is we’re down in 17th. The league is really tight. The only thing that matters for us is to continue along the same path we’ve started on in recent weeks, even if we took a step backwards today.”

Felix Kroos: “We had the chance to make it 2-2 but we weren’t three goals worse than them. It was unfortunate but we didn’t do enough. We’ve take nothing from the game and we gave to move on.”

Zlatko Junuzovic: “I don’t think any of the teams at the bottom of the table will be able to pull clear before the winter break. There are five or six sides down here, so , home games are crucial. That’s what we’re concentrating on, especially our next game against Hannover.”
