Former HSV striker Ruud van Nistelrooy returned to his old stomping ground this week, as part of a two-day visit to further his coaching.

"It’s nice to be here and meet so many old acquaintances“, said the Dutchman, who played for the red shorts between 2010 and 2011 and scored twelve times in thirty-six games. His first game resulted in two goals within ninety seconds against VfB Stuttgart, who are, coincidentally, the game that van Nistelrooy will be in Hamburg for.

When asked if he'd be given any pointers to Pierre-Michel Lasogga and his striking partners, he commented, “No I don’t think I will be able to give them any tips to help them go out and score four or five goals. If I could, I could start coaching right away.” He was keen to see his former side pull clear of the bottom three, while he completes part of his UEFA coaching course, "HSV is still a very impressive club. We have to make sure that we pull clear of the lower places in the table. I hope we can make it four home wins in a row."

Josef Zinnbauer was also pleased to have van Nistelrooy back at the club, ahead of Tuesday's game, "I am glad that such a great player is here. Maybe he's the next former player to bring us luck. He was referring the HSV's derby victory over Werder Bremen as David Jarolim visited his former club. When my players see a man who has achieved so much in his career it can only be a positive thing."
