Hannover welcome Markus Weinzierl and his FC Augsburg side to the HDI Arena on Tuesday for the penultimate game of 2014 – eager to snap a winless run which has seen them pick up just one point from four matches.

13 goals have beaten Ron Robert Zieler and his Reds defence in these four games, and although they avoided defeat in Bremen on Saturday, their performances were summed up when David Selke popped up and equalised with 88 minutes on the clock to equalise.

That result stopped a run of three straight losses for Korkut’s side, and they will hope to return to winning ways on Tuesday in front of their own fans, where they have picked up four of their six wins so far.

They will be up against tough opposition in Augsburg though, despite a pretty standard 4-0 loss to Bayern on the weekend, they had previously won four straight, seeing seven players hit the net in the process – which has been the fulcrum of their season and the reason they sit in fifth place and are now big competitors for a European place next season.

Hiroshi Kiyotake has been the main man for Hannover this season, chipping in with three goals and three assists and picking up the man of the match award on two occasions. Joselu has been impressive in stints, but desperately needs help from those around him, and now captain Lars Stindl is back in action, they will be hoping that is the catalyst for a good run after Christmas – though manager Tayfun Korkut is confident that the Spaniard can handle the pressure on his own, “"We've always been strong when we've played football and combined well, and now Joselu's got his shooting boots back on. I'm optimistic we can beat Augsburg at home."

There has been some negativity surrounding Hannover after falling from their impressive start, but a win Tuesday night would see them jump to within a point of their guests and on the brink on a European place going into the final game against Freiburg this weekend.

It is sure to be an exciting game in store, and although history does not favour Markus Weinzierl’s men, he is not letting that affect him coming into the game, "I read somewhere that we've never beaten Hannover," stated Weinzierl. "Well it's high time we changed that."
