Chinese midfielder Xizhe Zhang was presented to the media with Dieter Hecking and Klaus Allofs at the Volkswagen Arena.

Sporting director Klaus Allofs commented on the Chinese player's signing, "We are very happy to welcome Xizhe Zhang to VfL Wolfsburg in January. He is a young player who has already proven in China that he has the necessary sports development potential to make the jump to the Bundesliga. We can bring Xizhe Zhang into the team step by step and give him the time he needs."

Xizhe Zhang was over the moon to have signed for the Wolves, "It’s a big honour for me to play for VfL Wolfsburg. Wolfsburg are among the top teams in Germany and the Bundesliga is one of the best leagues in the world. It is a big challenge for me but I will give everything I can so that China can be proud of me."

He'll officially be a VfL player come the January transfer window. The former Beijing Guoan midfielder notched up plenty of goals and assists in China and he spoke about his country's love for German football, "There are a lot of Bundesliga games broadcast live on Chinese television. German teams are almost as popular in China as the English clubs are. I am really looking forward to the German stadiums and the amazing atmosphere at the games here."
