Hertha Berlin goalkeeper Thomas Kraft has extended his contract until 2017, it was announced on Thursday.

After much debate as to whether the 26-year-old would sign on in the capital, Kraft has finally put pen to paper and agreed a deal. Kraft's deal was set to expire this summer, so this is a massive plus for the Berlin-based side. He has missed just one game this season, a four-two defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Matchday 2, and has been in fantastic form in recent weeks.

Coach Jos Luhukay has described him as, "one of our best in recent weeks." Kraft signed for Hertha back in 2011, from Bayern Munich, becoming undisputed number one ever since and a vital part of Hertha's promotion back to the Bundesliga. Luhukay will now hope that UEFA European Under 19 Champion, Hany Mukhtar, can follow suit and sign a new deal. That will expire in the summer, as do Marcel Ndjeng and Christoph Janker's contracts.
