An impressive performance from FC Augsburg pays dividends as the home side collect all 3 points against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Goals from Markus Feulner and Raul Bobadilla carry Augsburg to 6th in the Bundesliga table, level on points with 4th place Mnchengladbach.

It was not the start the home side wanted when Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker was adjudged to have handled the ball in his own area and the referee had no hesitation in awarding the spot kick. Max Kruse stepped up for Borussia Mnchengladbach, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way to make it 1-0. Augsburg would press for the equaliser, maintaining most of the possession but creating few chances.

They would draw level on 20 minutes thanks to a wonderful bit of team football, topped off by a tidy finish from Markus Feulner. Mnchengladbach should have regained the lead just after the half an hour mark when the ball fell to Roel Brouwers feet after a costless-kick but the the right back's effort was saved by Manninger.

Half Time: FC Augsburg 1-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach: Max Kruse's early penalty is cancelled out by Markus Feulner's 20th minute strike.

It would be the away side who would concede early after the interval as Augsburg would catch them on the counter ending with Alexander Esswein finding Raul Bobadilla in the center of the 18-yard box, the Argentine firing in from close range to make it 2-1.

It was almost a third for Augsburg five minutes later if not for a fantastic save from Yann Sommer to prevent Andre Hah from putting it into his own net. They would go in search of an equaliser and almost got their reward when Thorgan Hazard tore down the left hand side, only to see his strong effort saved well by Manninger. Four minutes before full time, Traore managed to find Hazard inside the area but the young Belgian saw his goal-bound effort blocked.

Full Time: FC Augsburg 2-1 Borussia Mönchengladbach: A very good win for Augsburg, carrying them to level on points with today's opponents. A disappointing loss for Gladbach, failing to take their chances but were beaten on the counter on both goals.
