Chelsea officials have held talks with Borussia Mönchenglabach over the possibility of letting Belgian starlet Thorgan Hazard move permanently to the Bundesliga side, sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed.

Hazard, who has been on loan since the start of the season, has impressed in his time at the Foals. The 21-year-old showed just how good he is during his loan in with Zulte Waregem last season, when he won the Jupiler League's Player of the Year award.

After only six months at the club, sporting director Max Eberl hinted that the club would be interested in a permanent deal for the talented youngster. Speaking on Friday when the Borussia U-21 side played Chelsea, he confirmed that he had started talks with Chelsea sporting director Michael Emenalo about a move.

"Thorgan is a great guy, a great person and is playing very well in the first team," Eberl said.

"It was great (to talk with Emenalo). I like Michael and we have a good relationship because of Thorgan and his loan at Borussia. We had a good meeting."
