Dong Won Ji has signed for Augsburg for the third time. However, this time it is a long term deal until June 2018. The transfer fee was not disclosed.

The first time Ji joined Augsburg it was from English side Sunderland in January 2013, the second time round it was a year later. Now it is a permanent deal after his time at Borussia Dortmund failed to get off the ground.

Quickly after joining Jurgen Klopp's side, Ji suffered a hamstring injury and that dashed his hopes of making an instant impact. When Ji signed he stated it was to, "Take the next step in my career" but after recovering from injury he was put in with the U-23 squad and failed to shine. After knowing he was no longer needed at Dortmund interest came from a Freiburg but never came to fruition as his former side Augsburg began to show interest in resigning the 23 year old.

"We know him, he knows us and we are sure that he again can build on his previous time in this environment, and help strengthen our team" said Augsburg managing director Stefan Reuter. "I want to find my form as soon as possible and help achieve success with my teammates" Ji commented after signing his contract.

Stefan Reuter also added, "We're giving the squad some additional quality" (with the signing of Ji). The 31 times capped international will also hope to keep his international manager interested in selecting him.
