Hamburger SV have extended the contract of promising youngster Gideon Jung until 2018.

Jung was arrived from Rot-Weiß Oberhausen last summer and made 17 appearances in the Regionalliga Nord so far. The versatile defensive man has also scored two goals and is one of the mainstays of the team.

CEO Dietmar Beiersdorfer was pleased with his progress: "He has shown in the games for our U23 and also in his sessions with the professionals' training that he has plenty of potential. We are convinced that he still has great potential to develop even further."

The 20-year-old also commented on his time at HSV so far, "When I came to Hamburg in the summer, it was a great new challenge for me. I am glad that I can continue to develop myself in the coming years here. I want to confirm my services to the U23's and hope, of course, at some point that'll be used in the Bundesliga."
