Schalke 04 forward Donis Avdijaj has signed for Austrian side Sturm Graz in an 18-month loan deal.

Following his move, the 18-year old told reporters: “I am convinced that the step to Graz is the right thing right now.

“In the long term, my goal is to continue to assert myself at Schalke.”

Schalke also have the option to recall the striker during the summer should they wish too.

Germany were dealt a huge blow in October when the striker announced that he would play for his birth country, Albania, rather than Germany.

The youngster scored 59 goals in 53 appearances for Schalke U17s before scoring 17 in 25 for the U19s. Despite choosing to play for Albania, Avdijaj has found the back of the net on 10 occasions in 13 games for Germany U17s.

Avdijaj current contract runs until June 2019 with a release clause of just under €50m with Schalke.
