Swiss striker Innocent Emeghara has joined up with the HSV training camp in Dubai on trial, as Bild HSV tweeted yesterday.

The 25-year-old, born in Lagos, has appeared nine times for the Swiss national team from 2011-present.

He last played for Azerbaijan Premier League side FK Qarabag, but he left the club on the 5th of January before reportedly training with Winterthur.

Having played for FC Töss and Winterthur at youth level, he broke onto the scene with Zürich II, where he scored 16 goals in 47 appearances for the club between 2006-2009.

Emeghara then moved back to Winterthur in 2009, having played there between 2003-2006 as a youth, where he scored 17 in 28 on his return to the club.

The 5ft7" forward then joined Grasshoppers in 2010, scoring 14 in 40 before moving to Lorient, where he was less successful bagging 5 goals in 28 appearances.

In January of 2013, still just 22 years old, Innocent Emeghara moved to Siena in Serie A, where he started brightly scoring four goals in three starts. He was loaned out to Livorno, where he scored 4 in 30, but Siena were sadly liquidated after the 2013/14 season meaning he became a costless agent.

He signed a three year contract with Qarabag, but left the club, and as a result is now on trial at Hamburg.

"I want to continue to play in a stronger league, preferably with Hamburg." admits the 25-year-old, "is a great opportunity for me. I'm looking forward to being here."

His blend of pace and directness is something the HSV forward line is sorely lacking. It may occur that he is signed to a contract with Hamburger SV II at first if he impresses on trial, but at just 25 he has a lot to prove and a lot to give.

Zinnbauer, director at HSV, knew Emeghara from his time at the Swiss national team. "We have been working [with Emerghara] for a few days," he revealed.
