Bayern Munich defender Javi Martinez has admitted that he couldn't see Pep Guardiola as the sporting director of a club.

Rumours have circulated that the Bayern Munich coach could be a possible replaced for Andoni Zubizarreta, who saw his contract terminated by Barcelona earlier this month.

Since joining the Bavarians, Guardiola has won the Bundesliga, DFB Pokal, Club World Cup and European Supercup and he looks set to have another successful season this time round.

However his Spanish compatriot has spoken to press and said he can't see him moving from Bayern, let alone into the role of sporting director.

"I have read what people have said, but I know that Pep is really happy at Bayern," Martinez said to Bild.

"He loves the city of Munich, the people here and the club itself.

"Plus, I honestly cannot imagine Guardiola in the role as sporting director. He needs to be on top of things on a daily basis and needs the smell of grass, or he will not be happy.

"It would drive Pep crazy if he had to look the training sessions through his office window."
