SC Freiburg striker Philipp Zulechner has returned to his homeland on loan until the end of the season.

Zulechner moved to the Bundesliga after he fired home 15 goals in 20 games for SV Grödig. However, injuries have hampered his attempts to break into the side.

The 24-year-old will join up with his former club, where he learnt his footballing trade between 1998 and 2005.

This is something Zulechner is looking forward to: "I'm really happy to be back. Now I want to help the team.

I have very fond memories of my time here, the Austria Academy was the best I could enjoy in Austria."

He'll also join up with Austria Wien's coach Gerald Baumgartner, whom he was with at his time playing for Red Bull Salzburg.

The forward is confident they'll continue their good work, saying: "He knows where my strengths lie."

The deal comes with an option for the capital club to purchase Zulechner at the end of the loan spell, should they see him as a good fit.
