2.Bundesliga side VfR Aalen have terminated the contract of attacker Fabian Weiß with immediate effect.

The 22-year-old made eleven appearances for Aalen in the Hinrunde, two came in the DFB-Pokal, but will play his football elsewhere from now on.

Weiß asked the club if his contract, which ran until 2016, with the club officials approving his request.

He joined Aalen in 2009 from VfB Stuttgart and has played 53 games since, scoring four times. Weiß also spent a season on loan at Sonnenhof Großaspach in 2013.

"We thank Fabian for the services he has shown and wish him well in his future endeavors, both sporting and private," said Carl Ferdinand Meidert, an executive committee member at Aalen.

The side from Baden-Württemberg are currently in sixteenth place, occupying the 2.Bundesliga's relegation play-off place. To make matters worse, they are just a point above St. Pauli in 17th.
