Daniel Brückner has signed a contract extension with newly-promoted Bundesliga club SC Paderborn 07 keeping him at the club until June 2016.

The 34-year old has made 14 starts out of a possible 17 in the Bundesliga for Paderborn this season, operating on the left side of defence and midfield.

“He is a real team player. Daniel is progressing on the court with high readiness and represents an important person for the younger players,” Paderborn coach André Breitenreiter told the clubs website.

Sporting Director, Michael Born said: “Daniel has his share of our successful of our association since the 3.Liga. He has high quality even at an advanced age.”

A native of Rostock, Brückner started his footballing career in Hamburg before joining the youth academy of Werder Bremen in 2004. The midfielder then moved on to Rot-Weiß Erfurt where he spent two years before spending 2008 at Greuther Fürth.

Brückner then joined Paderborn the following season and has since gone on to play 176 league matches for Paderborn, scoring 14 goals and amounting 31 assists for SCP.

Padernorn return to Bundesliga action on 31 January with an away trip to the COFACE Arena, facing 1.FSV Mainz 05.
