Promising centre-back Timo Baumgartl has extended his contract with VfB Stuttgart until 2018, the announcement came late on Monday night.
The 18-year-old defender, who had received his first professional contract in the summer, made seven Bundesliga appearances in the Hinrunde.
Sporting director Rubin Dutt was extremely happy at the news, “We are pleased that we were able to extend the contract with Timo.
"He has already gained some experience at a high level in the 3. Liga, despite being only 18 years of age, before he made his first steps in the Bundesliga with flying colours."
He continued: “We will continue to develop Timo gently as possible as and encourage him in his development.”
Baumgartl has been with the Swabians until 2012, working his way through the youth ranks, he also spoke about the extension: “Here there are optimal conditions for young players to develop. I want to continue to learn and establish myself in the Bundesliga.”
