Werder Bremen's promising young goalkeeper Richard Strebinger will play out the remainder of the 2014/15 season on loan at SSV Jahn Regensburg.

The 21-year-old shot-stopper joins the 3. Liga's bottom side, who are nine points adrift of safety. They could bring that down to six in their first game after the winter break, as they play host to Borussia Dortmund II.

Strebinger will compete with Stephan Loboué and Dominik Bergdorf to start in that game, with Viktor Skripnik keen to get him some game time.

The Bremen boss gave his view on the move, saying: "He should distinguish himself in the coming months, get match practice at a level that he can not get in our under-23s and then come back to us stronger."

Regensburg CEO Christian Keller also gave his thoughts on the loan, "I am glad that the loan of Richard Strebinger to Regensburg worked out and would like to thank those responsible at Werder Bremen for their co-operation. Richard has all the skills that should characterise a modern goalkeeper."
