German defender, Holger Badstuber made his return to the Bayern Munich first team at their winter training camp, against Qatar All-Stars.

The 25-year year old featured for Bayern after four months out after tearing a thigh tendon just a few games in, after he returned from a double cruciate ligament injury.

Badstuber told reporters he was: “simply delighted to be back on the road with the team again. I feel good, physically and mentally, there’s not the slightest twinge remaining from the injury.”

The centre-back spent two-years on the sidelines after rupturing his anterior ligament in his right knee against arch-rivals, Borussia Dortmund in 2012, when he was involved in a tackle with now teammate, Mario Götze.

During his rehabilitation the first time round, Badstuber suffered a re-rupture which pushed his return date further back. He would then make his return against VfB Stuttgart in mid-September 2014.

When asked why he’s still motivated, Badstuber replied: “because I enjoy playing football so much.

The immediate priority is to stay fit and healthy for an extended period. Everthing else is secondary to that. I want to show that I’m up to the job again.”

Badstuber, 25, looks forward to finally being able to work under Pep Guardiola. “I understand how he works, I’ve been following the training very closely from the sidelines,” he explained. “The next few weeks will show how I’m progressing.”

Bayern Munich and Guardiola will return to action tomorrow night when they travel to Wolfsburg. The Bavarians remain unbeaten at the summit of the Bundesliga, having only conceded four goals all season.
