Stuttgart travel to the Rhein-Neckar Arena hoping to gee themselves off the bottom of the Bundesliga.

They will have to improve in front of goal if they are to do that. The side have failed to score in their last four Bundesliga games.

Stuttgart will be boosted by the fact Hoffenheim have lost their last three matches in the Bundesliga so will be going in to the game knowing they can get a much needed result.

Hoffenheim have conceded at least two goals in their last three matches in the league and manager Markus Gisdol knows the side must tighten up in defence if they are to prevent it being four defeats in a row.

In team news, for Hoffenheim, Jin-Su Kim and Jeremy Toljan compete for a spot at left-back. Sebastian Rudy returns from suspension to replace Eugen Polanski, who is suspended himself, in central midfield. Adám Szalai, Anthony Modeste and Sven Schipplock all have a chance of starting up front.

For the visitors, Georg Niedermeier will most likely start at centre-back again, with Daniel Schwaab remaining at right-back.Winter signing Serey Dié has returned from the AFCON and could make his Bundesliga debut, with Carlos Gruezo not yet fully fit. Vedad Ibisevic and Martin Harnik compete for the spot up front.

Hoffenheim have won the last two meetings between the sides, a run the visitors will be eager to stop.

The hosts will be hoping to cut the gap between them and the Europa League places, which is currently six points.

Stuttgart need their top scorer Martin Harnik back in the goals if they're to get themselves out of trouble.

A lack of goals has been a problem for the visitors this season, and they'll need a bit of luck to go their way, and get a run together to start climbing the table.

Possible line-ups:

Hoffenheim: Baumann, Beck, Strobl, Bicakcic, Kim, Schwegler, Rudy, Volland, Firmino, Elyounoussi, Szalai

Stuttgart: Ulreich, Schwaab, Baumgartl, Niedermeier, Sakai, Romeu, Die, Klein, Gentner, Hlousek, Ibisevic
