Hennings first half goal enough to send the travelling fans home happy. 

Heidenheim’s push for Bundesliga football would’ve benn given a huge boost with a win against high flying Karlsruher.

Win for the visitors and they could’ve gone six points of league leaders Ingolstadt but into the automatic promotion places.

It was all to play for as the game kicked off, Karlsruher pushing for the win that could give them an advantage over the teams around them. Ylli Sallahi’s shot was blocked after twelve minutes. Heidenheim had some pressure of their own, Adirano Grimaldi’s shot whizzed past the left side hand post. Then Marc Schnatterer’s effort from six yard’s out flew over the bar.

After a quarter of an hour, Ylli Salahi had another chance to open the scoring for the visitors but he forced his Sattelmaier into an easy save.

Half an hour gone and the deadlock was broken, the visitors with the opener. Brilliant play from Karlsruher in build up to the goal,  Gohlert’s poor clearance straight at Rouwen Hennings his brilliantly controlled and volley was too hot to handle for Sattelmaier who couldn’t keep it out. Karlsruher pushed for a second, Manuel Torres’ effort flew over the bar following his shot from distance. Then, a minute before the break Karlsruher’s best chance of doubling their lead came through Reinhold Yabo, his chance was magnificently save, Sattlemaier pushing the shot out of the top corner.

Heidenheim were down 0-1 at the break.

After the restart, Karlsruher’s Manuel Torres saw his shot saved in the bottom corner. Karlsruher were getting closer to doubling their lead.

Volgsammer’s header rattled the post following Phillip Heisse’s whipped delivery just five minutes after the restart.

Niederlechner forced a great save from Orlishausen, his right footed strike from a tight angle forced the thirty-two year old to tip over the bar.

Despite Heidenheim pushing for the equaliser, Karlsruher had a chance of their own, Rouwen Henning’s effort was straight down the throat of Sattlemeier.

With fifteen minutes to go, Heidenheim rattled the woodwork again! This time, Grimaldi’s header rattled off the Karlsruher’s crossbar. Just three minutes later, Heisse’s free kick wasn’t troubling the leaders goal, he skied his effort.

In the dying moments, Sebastian Griesbeck’s header forced Orlishausen to stretch to keep out his effort which was flying into the top corner.
