It was another hammering for HSV by Bayern in Munich, losing 8-0 at the hands of the champions behind a masterful performance from Arjen Robben.

Bayern couldn’t quite get the early penetration that the game required, and it needed a slight bit of fortune for them to break the deadlock in the 21st minute. Rafinha broke down the right side, and his cross hit the arm of Marcos causing the penalty to be awarded. Müller sent Drobny the wrong way, to make it 1-0 to Bayern.

Hamburg were caught sleeping from kick-off as München added a second courtesy of Mario Götze, who netted the rebound after Drobny saved Lewandowski’s initial shot.

In all honesty, Bayern weren’t at their complete best in the opening 30 minutes, and HSV pressed well to create difficult situations at the back.

However, it was the other end of the field letting down Hamburg as Bayern made it 3-0 after 36 minutes. Robben picked the ball up in the centre of the park around 25 yards out, before unleashing a beautiful curling effort that crashed in off the post.

Straight after the interval Bayern picked up where they left off, scoring a fourth in the 47th minute with Robben again producing a fantastic piece of individual brilliance. Having picked up the ball from the right side, he dribbled inside the area, breezed through Marcos and hit a low drive past Drobny at the near post, making it 4-0.

It was 5-0 in the 55th minute as Müller got his second goal with a sweet drive from 25 yards out that beat Drobny in the bottom right corner.

The HSV players were down and out by this point, and Bayern walked in a sixth straight from kick off, with Lewandowski allowed to tap home into an empty net to make the score 6-0.

Rudnevs did have a goal disallowed for Hamburg in the 63rd minute, and it appeared a harsh decision as he was adjudged to be offside before stabbing home.

In the 69th minute Bayern added a seventh, substitute Franck Ribery slotting home a rebound after Lewandowski was once again denied.

The afternoon’s scoring was wrapped up with a goal in the 88th minute to make it 8-0 for Bayern as Götze wrapped a superb shot into the right of the goal again to beat Drobny for the eighth time in the game.

Overall it was a resounding victory for FCB, and one that Hamburg supporters will have found embarrassing and humiliating no doubt, just like the 9-2 visit of the Allianz they had to endure. Bayern controlled the ball with ease, and looked hugely superior in every department, but in truth the biggest mismatches were the pace of Robben against the inexperience of Marcos, as well as Westermann struggling with the runs of Lewandowski all game.

Bayern simply asserted the dominance they knew they already have, while Zinnbauer should ask some serious questions of the toughness of his players before their next game against Mönchengladbach on Sunday.
