This 2.Bundesliga encounter put both Nurnberg and Union Berlin together. The two teams went in to the match only seperated by goal difference, both will be looking for the full three points to cement their place in the league.

The bavarian side went in to the game without a win in their previous two games. Rene Weiler will be looking to get a needed confidence win, in what has beeen a disappointing season by standards set from those in charge. The former top flight team will be looking for a good run of form in the coming weeks.

Union Berlin travel south from the capital brimming with confidence after a 2-1 win over Bochum the previous week were a 86th minute winner from Croatian Damir Krilach selaed all three points.

The previous meeting between the two sides saw Nuremberg thump Union in which coach Rene Weiler said was a: "perfect perfomance." Norbert Duwel will be hoping his team have different fortunes this time round.

It was the hosts who got the early advantage with just four minutes gone Peniel Mlapa got on the scoresheet for the hosts, a defensive mistake in the Union box allowed the 24 year old to calmy stroke his strike in to the net. The Bavarians continued to dominate the possesion stats.

Union Berlin were quick to respond and it was none other than Sebastian Polter against his fromer club who found the net - after a misplaced shot from Skrzybski the ball found its way to the striker who shot went thumping in to the right hand top corner.

After what had been a composed start by the Bavarian side it now looked like the Capital side were in the drving seat and more likely to threaten a winner. Mlapa the opening goalscorer managed to set up Sylvestr who's dangerous looking header evaded everyone including keeper Haas who breathed a sigh of relief.

At halftime both managers seemed happy with the scoreline, Mlapa had been the standout player for the hosts but Union were the overall better team and went in level deservedly. A rugged game and not pretty on the eye.

A brilliant save from Daniel Haas in the Berlin goal saw Sylvestr denied from giving the home side the advantage. Minutes later Nurnberg got given a penalty by referee Robert Kempster after Polter handballed in his own box. The former Bavarian sides player turning from hero to villian after levelling in the first half.

Jakub Sylvestr stood up to take the penalty and the Slovakian calmy slotted the ball in to the net past Haas. The home side were back in full control of the match and looked close to getting a third Mlapa once again with a teasing shot from distance which just went over the bar.

Union Berlin responded by replacing misfiring forward Bajram Nebihi with Christopher Quiring, desperately looking to snatch something from the game with just under twenty minutes left.

With tweleve minutes left Mlapa was taken of and replaced by Blum the young attacking midfielder got a raptourous round of applause for his efforts which had seen him play a big part in his teams perfomance.

As the game came to an end Czech striker Sylvestr got on the scoresheet again this time a left footed shot after an assist from Stark. The perfect way to round up three points and move up the table.

The full time whistle blew and the joy was clear to see on Rene Weiner's face the same couldnt be said for his opposite number Norbert Düwel who will now need to regroup his players and take the few positives from the hard fought game in which the hosts won easy leading to a long journey north for the visiting side.
