Andre Schurrle has told the media that he has never played in such a crazy game, following his new club VFL Wolfsburg's dramatic 5-4 thrilling victory over his former side Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday afternoon.

Bas Dost scored four goals for the visitors, his last of which sealed a late winner for the title challengers, who remain eight points behind current Bundesliga leaders and defending champions Bayern Munich, who recorded a 8-0 thrashing over Hamburg in their match.

Wolfsburg were 3-0 up before the half-time interval, but a hat-trick from South Korean winger Heung-Min Son in the space of 11 minutes made the scores level at 3-3; before Dost and Karim Bellarabi scored for their respective sides to make the score 4-4.

Schurrle had the following to say, after the match: "I have led 3-0 with Mainz before and ended up drawing 4-4; and that was against Wolfsburg, but to win 5-4 is even crazier than that. I've never experienced such a crazy game - it's pretty extraordinary in football to have so many goals going in at one end and the other."

Schurrle created a few goal-scoring opportunities for his team-mates, and was unlucky not to open his own goal-scoring account for the Bundesliga outfit, hitting the post. The 24-year-old forward added: "They were big chances which I would and should normally take so it is a shame of course, but that's the way things are in football sometimes. Sometimes they go in, sometimes they don't. I'll keep working and then the goals will come.

I'm feeling good as part of this team; this is just the game I like - this quick, ambush-style counter-attacking. That's where I can play to my strengths and dribble the ball fast. That's exactly what I want; with the quality we've got in attack, it's great fun.
