In perhaps the most highly anticipated clash of Matchday 22, Augsburg welcome Bayer Leverkusen to the SGL Arena as fifth meet sixth.

With both teams coming into the game off the back of poor runs of form, taking all 3 points seems absolutely crucial.

Augsburg, still suffering the burden of a few long-term injuries, may have Marvin Hitz back in goals for the clash, although replacing Alex Manninger so soon may be harsh on the 37 year old, who's been in excellent form. Christoph Janker is eligible after serving a two game ban, while Markus Feulner misses out through suspension.

The visitors are set to be without the suspended Emir Spahic, while Tin Jedvaj and Robbie Kruse are also unavailable. With a Champions League Last 16 clash in mid week vs. Atlético Madrid beckoning, coach Roger Schmidt may well decide to omit some of his star players. Karim Bellarabi, fresh from signing a new contract at the club, should start.

The German winger spoke fondly of his club boss during the week. Bellarabi said: "Even in the times before that, when I had to fight with niggling injuries and spent time out on loan at Eintracht Braunschweig, I always felt that Leverkusen believed in me and that I was needed here.

But the sort of faith I have been shown by Roger Schmidt is something I've never enjoyed before and I will do everything I can to pay him and Leverkusen back.''

Augsburg have earned just one point from their previous two games, and the slow start to 2015 has cost them ground on fourth place.  Similarly, Leverkusen have lost twice on the bounce for the first time under Roger Schmidt, although they boast the league's fourth best away record.

In what promises to be an exciting, toughly-contested clash, it's hard to see past a share of the spoils.

Prediction: Augsburg 2:2 Bayer Leverkusen.
