In the German capital, Hertha finally got a victory that has temporarily moved them out of the drop zone as they defeated Augsburg by a final score of 1-0 at the Olympiastadion.

The first real attack of the evening from the hosts came in the seventh minute as Kalou makes a good run on the ball into the box but he was eventually muscled off the ball by an Augsburg defender. Raul Bobadilla did well to bring down a long diagonal cross from Abdul Baba right before the half an hour mark had eclipsed. That was really the last action of the first half as the two sides were a bit cagey as they did not want to make a mistake that would have led the other to open the scoring.

The visitors first chance of the second half came right after the whistle as Jan-Inger Callsen-Bracker's header was hit straight into the hands of the Hertha goalie. For Augsburg, Markus Feulner had a shot from the right side of the eighteen yard box saved by Kraft. Right before coming out of the match, Nico Schulz had a left footed shot go high and to the left of the target. Header from Kalou, following a corner, is held easily by Hitz, right on the hour mark. In the 69th minute of the match, Pierre-Emile Hojberg's free kick was hit really well, but it just missed the target.

Shawn Parker had an audacious attempt from beyond 40 yards, but Kraft had to make a save as the ball was hit well and on target in the 86th minute of the match. Down on the other end and with just a couple of minutes remaining in regular time, a long throw was flicked on by Jens Hegeler and Kalou, who has worked hard all match, ran onto the ball and placed the ball into the back of the net. Korean international Dong-Won Wi had a free header inside the 18 yard box, but he hit it just a little too high.
