In the DBF Pokal tomorrow evening, 1. Bundesliga outfit Werder Bremen will be traveling to the SchücoArena to take on 3. Liga side Arminia Bielefeld.

The hosts have been flying high of late in the third division as they have won their last four league matches. After their 2-0 loss to Fortuna Köln, Die Blauen have been on an absolute tear. In their current winning streak, Arminia has scored a whopping 14 goals, while only conceding two. They currently sit at the top of the table in the third division and have a +28 goal differential with a nine point gap between themselves and Holstein Kiel. However, Werder Bremen are a completely different animal and will have to play the perfect match if they wish to advance in the competition.

For Werder Bremen, the 45-year-old Viktor Skripnik has essentially saved the clubs season. The Ukrainian took over in late October after Bremen got off to a horrible start. But now, the river islanders are sitting in ninth place in the Bundesliga table and are just three points behind seventh place Hoffenheim. Zlatko Junuzovic is Die Grün-Weißen leading scorer and he should be able to find the back of the net tomorrow. Although they have dropped four points in their last two matches, the DFB Pokal could be used to find their confidence once again and continue to climb up the table.

Davie Selke – although he did train today – and Levent Aycicek both missed training on Monday morning with Aycicek suffering from a nagging knee injurie while Selke has some flu like symptoms and will be a match-time decision. Meanwhile, the hosts will be without Jerome Propheter is out until April with a fracture in a metatarsal and seems to be Norbert Meier’s only serious injury.

Expect Werder Bremen to dominate the match from the first whistle. They will be looking to score within the firs twenty minutes in order to calm a little nerves if there are any. This is especially true, because the longer that Bremen do not score quickly, Bielefeld will grow in confidence as the match goes on. Arminia Bielefeld has been superb at home in recent weeks, but it will certainly be a big ask tomorrow night against 1. Bundesliga opposition.
