7 years ago, Borussia Monchengladbach were trundling their way back into Germany's first division and with the final days of the season approaching relegation was in sight. Offenbach Kickers were the unfortunate opposition as the Foals descended on the Bundesliga once more. Despite being a man down for the final 20 minutes, Gladbach secured an emphatic 7-1 win.

Now Lucien Favre's side are in a similar position, but one league higher. Just 10 points off second and 4 clear of 4th the Champions League is calling for Gladbach.

Meanwhile Kickers have slipped down two leagues to the Regionalliga Südwest. Offenbach are top of the league by 5 points but still more than 50 places below their counterparts on Wednesday night.

Borussia Monchengladbach eased to a 2-0 victory over Paderborn on Sunday after a narrow loss in midweek to Sevilla. A draw to Hamburger SV two weekends ago kept them in third and they remain there now having played well against Paderborn.

Kickers have lost just one match all season in the Regionalliga Sudwest, winning 20 in the meantime. They've won 4 of their last 5 and go into this game undefeated since early August.
