Sandhausen made the journey south to face 1860 Munich. The hosts were looking for three points to make life more comfortable and in the process catching up with their visitors and closing the gap to just three points. Sandhausen knew a win could see them move up to 11th and edge further away from the relegation pack.

An early lead was taken by the visitors after just seven minutes, Wooten slamming the ball in to the net after a surge of defenders failed to clear the ball. The perfect start for Alios Schwartz side who had hoped to dominate proceedings.

Sandhausen took full control of the game and looked the more likelier to get on the scoresheet once again. To make things even worse for the hosts Hain had to be replaced by Wolf just  27 minutes in to the game, coach Fröhling now had a selection dilemma on his hands.

Despite Munich's failure to make any real impact on the game they found themselves level on the 34th minute mark, right-back Kagelmacher catching the ball sweetly on the edge of the penalty box before thumping a shot past the helpless Manuel Riemann.

The home side had now added to the game and looked like they had a new lease of life, Sandhausen on the other hand looked more vulnerable than previously and their dominance looked as if it had wore off.

Sandhausen began the second half as they started the first this time scoring just two minutes after the break, Stiefler's header from the side of the goal restoring the visitors lead.

Things went from bad to horrific minutes later for 1860. A free kick from the halfway line floated in to the home box wasn't dealt with by the nervy Munich defence leading Adler to capitalise and give Sandhausen a deserved two goal lead.

1860 forward Wolf was brought off with an injury which led to ironic reactions from the crowd as the before subbed on sub was replaced by fellow attacker Daylon Claasen.

The home side almost reduced the deficit with twenty minutes left but Claasen's strike went miles over the bar, the disappointment on the South African's face was clear to see.

With ten minutes left to play it looked only as if Sandhausen would increase their lead but Schwartz side began to play the possession game and dominated the remaining minutes of the match to ensure they secured all three points

Munich out of nowhere grabbed a second going in to added time and it was the right-back Kagelmacher once again with the goal to reduce the deficit.

The goal however meant nothing as visitors took all three points back north.
