A Quarter Final tie stands in front of Bayern Munich and Shakthar Donetsk, the two finished goalless in Lviv a fortnight ago.

But Pep Guardiola’s side have the advantage having the second leg on home soil hoping they can progress.

But Bayern’s run of form in the knockout stages isn’t so good. In their last six Champions League knockout games, they have only won one, losing two and drawing the other three.

But the stats don’t go in Shakthar’s favour either; the Ukranian’s have never beaten a German side in the Champions League. They’ve also not scored in their last four outings at German opposition.

Team News:

Bayern:

Captain Philipp Lahm is now back in training after suffering a fractured ankle however, he is not yet ready to make his comeback. He will be joined by returning Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez on the sidelines with Xabi Alonso suspended following his red card in the first leg.

Brazilian Dante was withdrawn in the first half at the weekend in what was a tactical change and Guardiola may stick with a 4-man defence.

Franck Ribery may return to the line-up at the expense of Mario Gotze.

Shakthar Donetsk:

Taras Stepanenko is available again having missed the first leg through suspension and could return to replace Fred in the midfield.

Shakthar were forced to fill in at centre-back at the weekend due to injuries to Rakitskiy, Krivstov and Ordets, who still remain doubts ahead of the trip to Munich.

Alex Teixeira was also absent on Saturday due to food poisoning and will be monitored, but is expected to start ahead of kick-off.

However, Shakthar will be without flamboyant Brazilian Bernard who suffered an ankle injury earlier.

Pre Match Comments:

Franck Ribery: "We have to win tomorrow, this is very important. Shakhtar have forwards with quality that we have to be aware of. They're good on the counterattack, so we have to avoid this. Shakhtar are a good team, we know that. But, we're even better. Of course, our aim is to win the game and go through."

Mircea Lucescu: "In my opinion Bayern are the world's strongest football team at the moment. They have six world champions among their players, and leading figures like Ribéry or Robben. They are the strongest team in the world at the moment. And we are taking them very seriously, of course."
