Werder Bremen are weighing up offering a deal to Mainz midfielder Julian Baumgartlinger, whose contract is up at the end of the season.

Bremen are not the only ones looking at bringing the 27-year old Austrian either with Hannover - who are looking to replace Lars Stindl as he departs for Gladbach in the Summer, also said to be interested.

A possible selling point for Baumgartlinger is close friend Zlatko Junuzovic - whom he played with at Austria Vienna for two years - is at Bremen.

Junuzovic was quoted as saying "Julian would be a real gain for us." in Kreiszeitung.de. Furthermore he was also quoted as saying, " He ( Baumgartlinger ) would have a good life here."

Baumgartlinger, a 30 time Austrian international has been at the COFACE Arena since 2011, and has gone on to make over half a century of appearances. This season Baumgartlinger has made a cumulative 21 appearances across the Bundesliga and Europa League Qualifiers to date.
