Lucien Favre's side head to Bielefield with the clear expectation of a dominant and comfortable win against the small club, huge underdogs - Arminia Bielefield.

Gladbach's chase for Europe's top competition, the Champions League, continued strongly with a 4-1 demolition of Hoffenheim after going down in the 17th minute.

Patrick Hermann scored twice to leave Borussia 3rd in the Bundesliga, behind only Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg. Meanwhile, Bielefield dispatched of Energie Cottbus easily, winning 3-0 in the end.

Norbert Meier's are now sitting pretty at the top of the table with no competition closing in on them as Holstein Kiel are all of six points behind. In a brilliant season at the Schüco Arena this year, Meier's focus turned straight towards the DFB Pokal as soon as he masterminded a 3-0 win over Cottbus.

In a positive mood with a big week ahead as the club prepared to host Gladbach, Meier said "With our fans behind us we will also pack a punch on Wednesday against Gladbach everything again,"

The Bielefield managing direction Marcus Uhlig added to Meier, saying We have a fantastic, fanatical audience, April weather, floodlights - and we will be with all that we do, and we have to defend. "

Both teams go into the quarter-final on a high, Gladbach's victory over Hoffenheim was their third in a row while Bielefield are almost guaranteed to be in the 2. Bundesliga this time next season.

Gladbach have won the Pokal 3 times but not since 1995 and Favre says it won't be easy to get past the 3. Liga side and go in search for a fourth Pokal victory.

"They beat [Werder] Bremen, one of the best teams, and knocked them out of the tournament. That says it all about the quality of Arminia [Bielefield]."

Favre's side came close to the final, which he says would be magical to get to this time, in 2012 but lost to Bayern Munich on penalties in the semi-final, "We would like to reach as far again but this time get to Berlin [the final host]. Anyone who has ever been in the final, raves about this fantastic experience and it is why we are giving everything to achieve it again."

Meanwhile Borussia sporting director Max Ebherl said, "Three years ago we saw a glittering trophy night in the semi-final against Bayern Munich, which unfortunately did not end exhilarating,"

In their bid to reach the semi-final, Gladbach will be without Marvin Stranzl and Thorban Marx who both have knee injuries but Favre says he does not know who he will start on Wednesday night yet.

Arminia Bielefield have beaten two Bundesliga sides in Werder Bremen and Hertha Berlin to reach the quarter-final this year. They have one more to make a historic run in the Dfb Pokal even more memorable to the fans who are likely to be watching 2. Bundesliga football next season. Yet an in-form Borussia Monchengladbach side is a different prospect to Werder and Hertha and Favre's side should knock up a high score on Wednesday night in Bielefield.
