Veteran midfielder Dominic Peitz has seen his contract automatically extended following Sunday's 2-2 draw against VfR Aalen.

It was a disappointing day for Karlsruhe, who slipped behind their promotion rivals thanks to Jurgen Gjasula's brace. However the 30-year-old defensive wall will add that much needed experience to their midfield, should they gain promotion to the Bundesliga. His deal now runs until June 30th 2016.

Sporting director Jens Todt was extremely pleased to have him on board for a further year, "On and off the pitch he is, within our team, in an important role and fills it perfectly with his experience. He shows what it means to always give 100 percent and is an important guide for our younger players."

Karlsruhe will be keen to have fellow midfielder Reinhold Yabo follow in Peitz footsteps. His contract is up this summer and there'll be no shortage of potential suitors for his signature.

The Wildparkstadion side will be keen to bounce back from their dropped points at the first time of asking, as they take on strugglers FC St. Pauli this Friday.
