After playing a handful of games for Eintracht Braunschweig this season, Maximilian Sauer and Julius Düker have been handed their first professional deals with the club. Sauer's runs until 2018, while Düker was given a contract until 2017 with a performance-based option to extend.

The pair featured in Braunschweig's DFB-Pokal-defeat at the Allianz Arena this season and put in a very solid showing. Sauer, who learned his trade at VfL Wolfsburg and has played one more 2. Bundesliga game than Düker, is a right-sided defensive player. Marc Arnold, sporting director at the Lions, was very praiseworthy of him: "He's athletic and dynamic and can, of course, also run with the ball."

"He has undergone great development," is what Arnold had to say about Düker. The 19-year-old has been with Braunschweig since 2013 and is a promising attacker, although he has not yet scored for the first-team in his limited game time.

Sauer said he was 'happy' to have been handed his first professional contract, adding: "I am looking forward to the next three years." Düker shared in his fellow team-mate's happiness, "I too am very happy. For every footballer it's a dream to be able to become a professional and I am grateful to be part of the team."
