FC Augsburg today announced they have struck a deal with insurance company WWK to take over as their shirt sponsor.

WWK, an Augsburg based insurance company will replace current shirt sponsor ALKO for the start of the 2015/16 season. The deal is believed to be worth a million more euro's each season than the ALKO deal which saw Augsburg gain €2 million per season. Furthermore, the deal is initially set to last three years.

Augsburg President Klaus Hofmann was quoted as saying "Besides the financial aspect for us their is a long-term importance and the thought that Augsburg may not always play in the Bundesliga, The contract is valid for the Bundesliga and for 2. Bundesliga." Jürgen Schrameier, CEO of WWK, said: "If relegation should happen, we have great interest in seeing a resurgence. It is therefore implausible, that we should pay different amounts."

There is an added financial incentive for the SGL Arena outfit if they are to qualify for the Europa League this term. If they manage to do so, the annual income from the sponsorship will rise to €3.5 million.

Current sponsor ALKO, who've been Augsburg's main sponsor for the past five years passed up the opportunity of renewing their deal with the club but they will however, continue to sponsor the club at lower levels.
