Eintracht Frankfurt will have to do without centre back Carlos Zambrano against Gladbach this Friday after the defender has been unable to overcome a muscle tear in his thigh, suffered last week in training before injuring himself elsewhere, according to Kicker.

The defender returned to light training yesterday but felt the hamstring area tighten up. Despite this he still declared: "I would like to play on Friday.

"We are very happy that Carlos is back in the running training, but given the pace the load is not high," said Eagles boss Schaaf. "He felt that the muscles were tighter. We didn't want to take any chances." Schaaf continued.

Zambrano's injury adds to Frankfurt's worries after the club learnt yesterday that they'd have to deal without Bundesliga top scorer Alex Meier for the remainder of the season. Stefan Aigner is also doubtful for Friday nights game after he too injured himself during running training.
