Reports from Express suggest Fortuna Düsseldorf's Charlison Benschop has been confirmed as one of FC Köln's summer targets.

"It is well known that he has an affordable buyout clause," Schmadtke was quoted as saying in Express.

The buyout clause in question sits at just €1 million for the Düsseldorf man who has netted 13 times so far this season in 27 2. Bundesliga appearances.

The 25-year old Dutch attacker has attracted interest from a couple of Bundesliga clubs with Schalke and Bremen believed to be showing interest as well.

Sky Deutschland reported that both Schmadtke and Effzeh boss Peter Stöger were in attendance at Fortuna's last game, a 1-1 draw with FC Kaiserslautern.

Benschop is contracted with the Esprit Arena outfit until 2017 and reports from other outlets suggest newly appointed Fortuna boss, Frank Kramer will be able to prepare for next season with Benschop in his plans.

Benschop started his career at RKC Waalwijk and has had spells with AZ Alkmaar and French side Brest also.
