1. FC Union Berlin have continued to steal a bargain from their fellow 2. Bundesliga clubs before the new season has even started. This time, it's Raffael Korte who'll be joining up with Norbert Düwel's side on a free.

Korte is the second Braunschweig player to join Union before the transfer window opens and the third in total. Benjamin Kessel and Stephan Fürstner were the two men who'd already been signed up to feature at the Stadion an die Alte Försterei.

The 24-year-old wide-midfielder has been handed a two-year deal until 30th June 2017. Korte has been with Braunschweig since 2011 and spent last season on loan at 1. FC Saarbrücken. This campaign he's been a regular with Torsten Lieberknecht's side, notching up seventeen appearances and scored one goal in the process.

"Raffael Korte is a player with great potential that already brings a lot of experience, but is still able to develop," commented Düwel. He added, "I am pleased that he accepted the challenge."

Korte also spoke about his move but was quick to thank his former club, "I had a really good time in Braunschweig and was able to start my career as a professional footballer." Korte continued, "I wanted to take the next step in a new environment. I am very excited to do this at Union and am desperate to achieve our goals."
