1860 Munich were dealt a blow on Thursday afternoon, when they learned that Hungarian winger Krisztian Simon would miss the remainder of the season with knee ligament problems.

Simon, who was signed in January from Ujpest, has made six appearances and scored once for Torsten Fröhling's men. He picked up the injury during training. A harmless slip and collision with Korbinian Vollmann meant he suffered a partial tear of the medial collateral ligament in his left knee.

It's a setback 1860 don't need, with the club precariously positioned just one point above the relegation places. They have sxi games left to secure their 2. Bundesliga status, starting against VfL Bochum this weekend.

The Hungarian isn't the only attacking absentee. Top scorer Rubin Okotie remains sidelined and while he is nearing full fitness, both Fröhling and Dr. Willi Widenmayer's medical team don't want to risk a relapse at this crucial stage.
