TSG 1899 Hoffenheim have extended the current deal of boss Markus Gisdol until 2018, it was announced on Thursday.

Gisdol, who has been mentioned in relation to the RB Leipzig and Hamburger SV jobs, originally had a contract that ran until 2016.

The 45-year-old has been in charge of Hoffenheim since 2013 and has continued to guide them to a series of impressive finishes, with a very real possibility to secure a Europa League place this season.

"It was an easy decision, we've made giant strides in the past two years and I see huge potential," said Gisdol. "We have the ambition to establish Hoffenheim as a major player in one of the strongest leagues in the world, to continually improve the team and to play in an attractive style."

Hoffenheim face Bayern Munich this Saturday at the Rhein-Neckar Arena and will fancy their chances, after what has been a rough week for the Bavarians.
