St. Pauli were in desperate need of three points to move themselves away from the relegation zone and they got exactly that through a Lasse Sobiech goal with very little time remaining in the match as the hosts defeated 1. FC Nürnberg by a score of 1-0 at the Millerntor-Stadion.

The first dangerous move came from the visitors in the fourth minute when Javier Pinola sent a wicked ball in towards the box. Young Sebastian Kerk was there waiting at the back post, however, he was unable to get a head on the ball as it was hit just a tad too hard. St Pauli started out very shakey on the defensive side of the ball and Nürnberg were looking to take advantage of that early on but could not find a way through.

Nürnberg's wing play was extremely impressive early on and the likes of Kerk and Mlapa.  In the 24th minute, Duabe and Verhoek linked up with the latter receiving the ball on the penalty spot. The Dutch striker was quickly closed down and could not get a shot away but this was a better sign from the hosts in the attackin gthird of the pitch.

There was just about a minute remaining in the half when Nürnberg had the best opportunity up to that point. Mlapa turned and shot from very close range and was denied a goal by Robin Himmelmann's foot. The half ended just as it began with the score level at zero in a fairly dull first 45 minutes. Unfortunately, both sides just did not have much about them going forward and it showed whenever they misplayed a pass in the final third or had a shot go well wide of the target.

Then seamingly out of nowhere, St. Pauli scored with less than a minute to go in the match off of a corner. Daube sent the ball into the middle of the box where Lasse Sobiech got himself into a bit of space and deflected the ball into the far corner of the goal sending the St. Pauli fans into pure elation knowing that they had secured three vital points.
