Fortuna Dusseldorf have handed promising goalkeeper Tim Wiesner his first professional contract ahead of the new season which will run until the summer of 2017.

The 18 year-old shot stopper, who represents Fortuna's U19 squad, has kept six clean sheets in twenty appearances in the U19 Bundesliga West.

This past weekend the Dortmund born stopper made a successful debut for the U23 side as he kept a clean sheet in his side's victory over SC Verl.

Speaking to the club's official website f95.de the teen said, "I have worked hard in recent years to become a professional. Now getting this opportunity at a club like Fortuna Düsseldorf makes me very happy. It is a dream for me. I'm sure that I can learn a lot from the two experienced goalkeepers Michael Rensing and Lars Unnerstall. I look at this as a great opportunity."

Former St Pauli boss Helmut Schulte was in high praise of the keeper, "Tim Wiesner is a talented goalkeeper who has already demonstrated that, in the U19 Bundesliga, he has great potential."

Wiesner will be part of Fortuna's squad for next season and with the aforementioned Unnerstall's future with the club yet to be decided, he may find himself more involved than first expected.
