The Bundesliga champions lost the first leg 3-1 on Wednesday and must now make history as they seek a fourth semi-final appearance in as many years.

This has left Pep Guardiola's side with no margin for error after a poor performance by their standards last week.

In team news, Bayern captain Philipp Lahm will start after recovering from a stomach virus which caused him to miss Saturday's 2-0 win at Hoffenheim, while midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger may also feature having trained on the weekend after recovering from both an ankle injury and flu.

However, wingers Franck Ribery (ankle) and Arjen Robben (abdominal muscle), as well as David Alaba (knee), Javi Martinez (knee) and Medhi Benatia (thigh), are missing with injury.

Jerome Boateng, Juan Bernat, Philipp Lahm and Manuel Neuer will have to be cautious as they are only one booking away from suspension.

The visitors will be without full-backs Danilo and Alex Sandro through suspension, while forward Cristian Tello missed the club's 1-0 loss to Academica on the weekend with a thigh problem.

Thomas Müller insists the side are confident of overturning a two goal margin: "I know we are able to do it - a 2-0 win playing at home wouldn't be a historic score. It is doable," said the Germany World Cup winner.

"I don't know exactly how we are going to do it but we will do it."

Porto know they face a difficult task too, and midfielder Yacine Brahimi recognises that: "It was an exceptional display [in Porto]," he said. "We couldn't have dreamed of a better result than 3-1, but we've still got an away game to play and it will be very, very difficult.

"Over there we need to play the way we did [in the first leg] – that is to play our game and play normally. We'll have to defend very well and be strong as a team."

Should Bayern be successful, it will be their fourth semi-final appearance in a row.

Speaking ahead of the game, Guardiola said: “Porto have the fresher legs, but tomorrow it’ll be decided not by legs but by heads.”
