Bochum welcomed promotion chasing Kaiserslautern to the Rewirpower stadion in hope of pulling off a shock whilst the visitors looked to cement their place in the two automatic promotion places.

The game started at a frantic pace and with just three minutes gone Kaiserslautern had already had a man booked. Heubach being booked for a late challage on Bochum midfielder Terrazzino.

The away side created the game's first real opporunity on loan midfielder Kerim Demirbay having a long distance effort which Luthe dealt with comfortably.

Bochum began to grow in confidence and looked the more likely side to open the scoring, Terrode was first to test Müller but the 22-year old stood up strong to prevent the home side taking the lead.

Thing's became worse for Kosta Runjaić's side when just twenty five minutes gone he was forced in to an early substitution the already booked Heubach looked to be carrying an injury and was replaced by Heintz.

Bochum looked to be dominating until a lovely bit of play from Kaiserslautern sent Schulze down the wing and he crossed for Zoller to calmy strike home. Against the run of play the away side found themselves in the lead.

The hosts confidence looked to have been shaken and it now looked like the away side who would go on to score another.

Halftime came and to the surprise of the big crowd the favourites were in the lead rather undeservedly and had'nt justified a team Bundesliga worthy in the opening fourty five minutes.

Kaiserslautern looked the more confident team in the opening stages of the second half, Hofmann was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet his dink over Luthe going just wide of the post.

Goalscorer Zoller came off soon after and it was clear Runjaić wasn't happy with his overall perfomance despite giving his side the lead.

Kaiserslautern had a strong penalty claim dismissed by Peter Gagelmann, Zimmer with a dangerous run sent Hofmann through on goal and it seemed as if Fabian brought the attacker down but the referee was having none of it and told Hofmann to get up.

The away side doubled their lead with just over fifteen minutes left, Demirbay after some good play through the penalty box before looping a ball towards the chest of Hofmann the U-21 international used his strenght before bursting the net with a powerful strike.

The away side dominated the rest of the match and made easy work of their win in the end after being pushed for the majority by a strong Bochum team who would be rewing cheap mistakes.
