Borussia Dortmund continues their fight for a Europa League spot and got a much needed victory as they defeated Eintracht Frankfurt by a score of 2-0 with first half goals coming from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Shinji Kagawa at the Westfalenstadion.

In just the second minute of the match, Blaszczykowski raced deep down the left flank and sent a ball back towards the middle of the box. The ball did eventually roll to Ginter, but he could not get a good shot away and missed the target. This was an early warning sign as they dominated throughout the first 45 minutes. However, Frankfurt had the brighter start and even had the ball in the back of the net after seven minutes, but Kittel was ruled offside. Blasczcykowski was involved early and often and with 17 minutes off the clock, he whipped in a cross towards the six yard box where Aubameyang was waiting. Unfortunately, the Gabon forward headed the ball above the goal.

Seven minutes later, Sonny Kittel gave away a penalty as he put a hand to the ball inside the area. Aubameyang stepped up and calmly placed the ball in behind Kevin Trapp for the early lead. It did not take very long for Dortmund to find their second goal of the match as that came just eight minutes later. The hosts worked a wonderful counter attack after Frankfurt had gotten the ball deep into their attacking third of the pitch. Durm released Aubameyang down the right side of the pitch and he provided a clinical pass to Kagawa and the Japanese midfielder finished off the move with a fine finish from inside the box.

After the second goal, Eintracht Frankfurt played very defensively and did not get up the pitch at all as they hoped that the two goals were going to be all that they would give up. Ciro Immobile had the last chance of the match but his effort slammed off of the post. This victory will give Dortmund a bit of confidence heading into the Pokal clash against Bayern Munich on Tuesda. Unfortunately, they know that they'll have to be more precise with their finishing if they have any hopes of reaching the final.
