1. FC Köln will go after Martin Harnik in the summer but only if Stuttgart fail to avoid the drop, according to BILD.

Stuttgart sit four points adrift of safety at the bottom of the table and face Mainz this weekend before facing survival rivals Hamburg and Paderborn in the final two weeks of the season.

Harnik has been one of few bright sparks for the Mercedes-Benz Arena outfit this season with eight goals and three assists to his name in twenty-five Bundesliga outings.

The right winger will turn twenty-eight this summer and has previously ran out for Europe chasing Werder Bremen and 2. Bundesliga's Fortuna Dusseldorf in his seven year senior career.

Harnik is also a decorated international having represented Austria no less than half a century of times since his 2007 debut.

1. FC Köln have already confirmed that they will lose key man Anthony Ujah to Werder Bremen come summertime and it is important they find his replacement sooner rather than later and Harnik may just be that man.
