Ingolstadt travelled to Bochum looking to start their promotion party, however after a great first half they suffered as another Bochum side turned up for the second half.

The first chance of the game was carved open by Ingolstadt, Mathew Leckie charged down the right and picked out Stefan Lex who was free in the area. His half volley forced a save out of Andreas Luthe.

Lex was denied once more soon after his first chance, an effort from distance was sneaking into the bottom corner and Luthe managed to get the slightest of fingertips on the ball to flick it past the post.

Ingolstadt dominated the first half as Bochum struggled to make any of their attack's count. One of their only chances in the first half saw Marco Terrazzino play the ball across goal and Michael Gregoritsch narrowly missed the ball as it flashed past him and Ramazan Özcan

Ingolstadt finally made their dominance count after the half hour mark. Lex had another shot saved by Luthe and after Bochum failed to clear the danger Leckie headed the ball toward's goal and under no pressure Patrick Fabian should've cleared. However at the last second he decided to pull his head away from the ball to leave for his keeper and this proved costly, Luthe didn't expect it and he saved with his legs and the rebound fell perfectly for Lukas Hinterseer to tap in.

After going into the lead Ingolstadt didn't push for another and comfortably kept possession, however they found themselves level again as Bochum scored just before half time. The ball was played into Piotr Cwielong and the Polish midfielder was brought down by Benjamin Hübner. Gregoritsch stepped up to take the penalty and comfortably converted sending Özcan the wrong way.

Bochum were much better in the second half and produced much better attacks. The host's were having success down the right and crosses to the back post were causing plenty of problems. One of those problems saw Terrazzino head at the back post and Özcan managed to save with his face to deny Bochum.

Terrazzino once again at the back post caused problem's and after trying to play the ball back across goal it struck the hand of Levels and fell nicely for Mikael Forssell, who's shot flew past Özcan and Alfredo Morales brilliantly kept the ball from crossing the line as he adjusted well to with his knee.

Three minutes later Forssell finally grabbed a goal, Tobias Levels was again outnumbered at the back post and Forssell was able to raise up and head Stefano Celozzi's cross past Özcan.

The goal before half time and the manager's team talk certainly did the trick for the host's as they were a changed team and deserved to be leading. Thing's got even better for Bochum as in the 83rd minute another substitute made an instant impact. Gregoritsch burst forward and played the ball to the right for Anthony Losilla to strike, it wasn't the best of shot's and Terrazzino did well to keep the ball in play, his cross found Losilla who's overhead kick found Yusuke Tasaka who drifted into the area unmarked and comfortably took his chance.

The last of the action came from Ingolstadt as Karl-Heinz Lappe tried his luck from range and the low strike rolled narrowly wide of Luthe's goal.

Ingolstadt's promotion party has been delayed for another week as they fail to win for the third week in a row. Up next for them they face a RB Leipzig side that were destroyed 4-0 by Sandhausen. As for Bochum they move up to 9th and will face St. Pauli next week for their last away trip of the season.
