RB Leipzig are reported to have secured the signature of VfB Stuttgart's Ken Gipson, according to German sports magazine, kicker.

Gipson, who is 19, was also being chased by Hamburger SV and FC Ingolstadt 04, who were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time on Sunday.

The former German under-16 international is expected to sign a contract until at least 2017 with Leipzig, becoming the third youngster to make the switch to the energy drink-backed club.

Rani Khedira and Joshua Kimmich, who secured an €8.5m move to Bayern Munich, were brought in by canny sporting director Ralf Rangnick in the past few years.

This time, unlike before, Gipson will join for free. His contract runs out in the summer and the right-back will make the move north after nearly four seasons in Stuttgart.

Gipson can also play at centre-half and has missed just two games this season in the A-Junioren Bundesliga Süd/Südwest, scoring one goal.
