Following the departure of Kevin Wimmer to Tottenham, their is a void to be filled in the Köln defence and Wolfsburg's Timm Klose is allegedly "the man" to fill this void, according to the Express.

Klose struggled to cement a first-team place in the VfL Wolfsburg team last term as he made just twelve Bundesliga appearances and eighteen overall.

The Swiss defender joined the Volkswagen Arena outfit in 2013 for €5 million from Nürnberg and made twelve appearances in his first season. The eight-time Swiss international still has two years to run on his current deal at Wolfsburg but would no doubt jump at the chance for permanent first-team football.

The clubs in question finished ten places apart but that didn't stop Köln from being one of the most defensively sound teams last season conceding just forty, making them fifth best overall.

Those behind the scenes at the RheinEnergie Stadion will want to build on a respectable twelfth placed finish in their first season back in the big time and it is to be expected that more than a new centre-half will come in following top scorer Anthony Ujah's departure to Werder Bremen.
